Spatial sound provides an enhanced atmosphere which traditional surround sound formats cannot.
People can hear everything in 3D so if someone is talking to you from left and in the distance, you will hear the sound coming from the left side and more silent. Therefore the audio experience is more realistic and immersive if the direction of the sounds matches the location of the speaker.
